On March 17-19, 2017, a group of 12 farmers from Sabah came to Kuching for pepper farm visit and tour. The visit was coordinated by Xfarming together with group leader, Cikgu Maikat. The 3 days, 2 nights visit to 3 pepper farms in Kuching district of Padawan & Bau was an eye-opening experiences for all the participant.

Xfarming would like to thank Malaysia Pepper Board (MPB) for granting the permission for tour visit by the group into their pepper processing plant in MPB headquarter, Kuching. Special thanks also to the group generous sponsor, Mr. Ewon Benedict who had kindly offer his financial assistance to the group throughout the trip.

The experiences gained during the trip:

  • Visit to 3 different type of pepper farms (different cultivation techniques, different production scale, different type of pepper being produced)
  • Group was able to experienced how white pepper was produced from harvesting, submerging, cleaning and drying
  • Viewing and testing on cultivation and post-harvest tools available in all farms
  • On-site training/demonstration of pepper maintenance works and cutting production
  • Briefing on pepper nursery setup and management

Xfarming wishs all the best for the participant to further implementing what they have gained during the visit. As of 15 April 2017, Xfarming have shipped 1,000 pepper cutting to Sabah as part of their (participant) order to setup pepper nurseries in Sabah.
